2008 Lincolnwood Farmers Market

The market will run every Thursday through September 25, from the hours of 8 am - 1 pm. It will be located between Village Hall and the Police Department and near the semi-circle drive on Lincoln Avenue.  This location was chosen because of its visibility and the accessibility of parking behind Village Hall.  Care will be given to allow for passage of pedestrians along Lincoln Avenue and those entering the buildings. The goal of the Lincolnwood Farmers Market is to offer an event that brings residents and the business community together, while offering the opportunity for individuals living and working in Lincolnwood to buy fresh produce and natural products. Vendors will set up displays that may include fruits, vegetables, bread and pastries, cheese, flowers and honey. Further information may be obtained by calling the Recreation Department at (847) 677-9740.

Worldwide Day of Play

Saturday, September 27th    **    9:00 - 11:00am    **    Proesel Park

The Illinois Association of Park Districts is partnering with the American Heart Association's Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a joint initiative with the William J. Clinton Foundation, to bring attention to the childhood obesity epidemic. Parks and Recreation agencies throughout the United States will be celebrating play on September 27th.

Goals of the event are:
*  Fight obesity by keeping kids and their families active
*  Educate residents about the many cultures represented in Lincolnwood
*  Have some fun learning new games
*  Bring families together to make community connections

Four to six game stations featuring 2 - 3 games from a country will be set up around the park, identified by the country's flag. Participants will spend approximately 20 minutes at each station.
