Community Center Study - Thanks for your input!
The Parks and Recreation Department conducted a study this spring with PROS Consulting, LLC, partnering with PHN Architects. Its purpose was to determine the future of the Lincolnwood Community Center, located at the corner of Morse and Lincoln Avenues. In 1990, the Village purchased the building from the American Legion. Since then the center has seen many renovations including a wheelchair accessible ramp and hardwood floors. The Village's 2007 Citizen Survey indicated that 88% of respondents supported significantly expanding the Community Center to improve programs and services.
In April 2008 the Village hosted Public Focus Groups involving members of the business and residential community in order to gain input regarding our recreation needs. Input was also received from the local School District, Library District and Chamber of Commerce to determine opportunities for partnerships.
The Friends of the Community Center, who has funded over $180,000 of improvements for the facility, is also funding this study. The final report will also include a market analysis, a review of existing program data, demographics and trends and a financial analysis. If the outcome of the report demonstrates needs for improvements, then the next step will be to develop a conceptual plan.
A presentation on this study will be made at the Parks and Recreation Board meeting on Tuesday, July 8 at 7:30 pm at the Village Hall. More information may be obtained by calling Jan Hincapie, Parks and Recreation Director at (847) 677-9740 or by going to our website at www.lincolnwoodil.org.
