Current Projects in Lincolnwood

  • Stormwater Management Study
    • The Village is currently in the process of conducting a Stormwater Management Study to evaluate whether or not the sewer system can maintain a 10 year rain event. As part of the study a model of the Village's sewer system was created and several different rain scenarios were tested assuming that the system had no blockages or areas of concern. The second phase of the project includes the use of actual rain data as well as information regarding blockages and stormwater flow within the system. In order to obtain data regarding stormwater flow through the Villages sewer system flow monitoring will be conducted. In addition, information obtained from sewer televising will be utilized within the model. This information will be input into the stormwater model to see where and what improvements will be necessary. The final phase will be to design the improvements and research/obtain funding mechanisms to implement the improvements.
  • 5 Year Street Light Replacement Program
    • During 2008 the Village's engineering firm completed a study of existing concrete street light poles on Touhy, Lincoln, Cicero, Pratt, Devon and Crawford Avenues, as well as McCormick and Touhy Avenues west of Lawndale Avenue which do not currently have street lights. The study evaluated the need for replacement as well as new poles. The street lighting study measured existing photometrics, evaluated which existing lighting lighting is adequate, assessed the current state of LED street light technolgoy and reviewed induction lighting options. The study concluded that the Village's standardized metal halide street lights should be utilized. A five year phased approach was recommended. During the spring of 2010 street lights will be replaced on the following streets:
      • Cicero Avenue (from Jarvis south to Devon)
      • Hamlin Avenue
      • Ridgeway Avenue
      • Morse Avenue
      • Touhy Avenue (east of Hamlin)
      • Pratt Avenue (east of Hamlin).
  • Water Main Replacement in Village's Northeast Business Park
    • During the summer through spring of 2010 the Village will be making several water main improvements throughout the Village's Business Park as a result of a water system analysis that was completed in 2008. The analysis required an update in order to evaluate water distribution abilities of the water mains within the Village's business park to deliver the following Illinois Department of National Resources (IDNR) guidelines:
      • Present day flow
      • Foreseeable average day
      • Maximum day
      • Peak hour water demands
      • Needed fire flow.

The following improvements will be completed this winter/spring:

      • Replacement of a 6" water main on Pratt Avenue between McCormick Avenue and Monticello Avenue with a 12" water main
      • Replacement of a 6" water main on Ridgeway Avenue between Lunt Avenue and Touhy Avenue with a 12" water main
      • Replacement of a 8" water main on Touhy Avenue between Ridgeway Avenue and Capitol Drive
